June Meeting - AGM, Election - Victoria Vanderlinden with The Value Game

Our June meeting was a busy one; starting off with our Annual General Meeting and the Election of a new Executive for the upcoming year.  Follow this, Victoria Vanderlinden gave us an informative talk about the terminology used in describing color; a trunk show to demonstrate these terms; and also a game to test our new knowledge of "Value" in color theory.
Here are a few pictures of the quilts that Victoria brought to the meeting.

The "Forget me not" quilt which will become a wedding gift.

The much loved "chicken quilts"

And "Moca Cremes"  that everyone loves!

May Meeting with Martha Schellingerhoud

At our May 11th Meeting, we had a trunk show with the phenomenal quilter Martha Schellingerhoud.  It was amazing to see the huge quilts she had designed, and made completely on a domestic machine. We were also fortunate to have her teach two workshops on Quilting in Sections.  This was an opportunity to learn three different methods of quilting on a domestic machine that she has invented.

Here is a selection of the quilts she showed us during the trunk show.

March Trunk Show with Michele Gagne

Michele Gagne, a very prolific long arm quilter, visited us for a trunk show in March.  She brought with her some of the quilts which she has completed since her last visit almost two years ago.

Here's a selection of what she showed us.
A log cabin quilt, with her choice of cheerful colors; which are her trade mark.

Yes, she does "modern" quilts too!

Fabric collected to make a black and white jacket was turned into this gorgeous item.

A "mystery" Block of the Month pattern, that would please any quilter.

An "I spy" quilt with a twist.
Michele used a dark to light, and light to dark
combination to mix things up.
Great results.

Following Directions.

An Challenge that involved Applique and using
only the fabrics in your stash.
Now that is  truly a challenge!
